QUESTION:
Can I be sent to jail if I have not completed my community service hours due to a family emergency? Need to complete community service hours but haven’t because of a family emergency that was out of state and I go to court on December 5th.
ANSWER:
In my experience, Judge Flores is one of the most compassionate judges on the bench. (I’m assuming this matter is in Division 1 of Lompoc Superior Court.) Bring as much documentation as you can (plane tickets, etc.) and I think it is very possible that he will grant you a reasonable continuance to complete your hours.
