QUESTION:
I was driving in Iowa and I got pulled over because when I was turning I accidentally turned off my headlights for one block and then turned them back on and I got pulled over and the cop gave me a ticket only for not driving without a license but not for driving with my headlights on which would’ve been $1000 and I don’t have a permit either. I live in California but go to school in Iowa and I want to obtain a license in California. I paid the ticket online and I want to know can I get a permit and license even tho I got a ticket for not having a license.
ANSWER:
California wants you to get a driver’s license. I believe the ticket in Iowa will add one point to your CA DMV record but does not create any kind of prohibition to getting a learner’s permit and then a driver’s license.
