QUESTION:
I received an administrative citation for public urination in San Luis Obispo County in October 2015. I was wondering if it was worth paying to expunge since this is the only thing I have on my record (besides two traffic tickets).
ANSWER:
It is worth doing, though. Most infractions are non-criminal matters and usually don’t warrant expunging. But a public urination charge might carry a certain stigma with it in the eyes of some prospective employers. If you expunge the infraction (or more accurately, have it dismissed retroactively pursuant to PC 1203.4a), you can truthfully say you were never found in violation of the statute. You can do this yourself and save money, or most private attorneys will do it fairly inexpensively
